About

Built by someone who has done the work.

HiveIQ is run by a qualified accountant. Every recommendation is made against how the work is actually done in a practice — not against a generic process, and not against what a tool looks capable of in a demonstration.

Background

The work came first.

Bookkeeping. Reconciliations. Working papers. Management accounts. Year-end. Practice management. The Monday inbox, the records that arrive in a carrier bag, the pack due on Thursday.

Then a long time spent working out what AI genuinely does for a practice like that, and what it only appears to do when someone else is driving.

The result is a short list of things worth doing and a longer list of things that are not. You will hear about both.

01 · Relevance The examples are your examples

Nobody has to translate a software demonstration into accounting. The session opens on a trial balance, a lead schedule or a client query — because that is what the day is made of.

02 · Judgement Knowing what must never be automated

The value is as much in what is left alone. Judgement, sign-off and client advice stay with your people, and every workflow is designed on that basis.

03 · Candour Told when it is not worth it

Some processes should not be touched, and some practices are not ready yet. Both conclusions have been delivered before and will be again.

How we work

Six things that hold across every engagement.

1

Applied, not theoreticalTechniques are demonstrated and configured on your own files, formats and systems. Nothing is taught against an invented company.

2

Judgement stays humanAI prepares; your people review, decide and sign. Every skill is built to produce work for a person to check.

3

Data protection firstConfidentiality, GDPR and subscription terms are settled before client information is involved, not after an incident.

4

You retain ownershipEverything configured for the practice runs on your own subscriptions and remains yours to operate, adjust or retire.

5

Plain languageNo jargon and no mystique. If it cannot be explained to a partner in a sentence, it is not ready to be recommended.

6

Paid back, or not startedWork is proposed where the hours it saves justify the fee. Where they would not, that is what you will be told at the introduction.

Who we work with

Practices doing real work for real clients.

Sole practitioners and small to mid-sized firms, generally up to around fifty people.

A practice with an internal transformation function will find little here it could not do itself. Two partners and a bookkeeper, wondering where to begin and conscious that the firm down the road has started, is precisely who this is for.

“AI prepares. Your people decide.”

Twenty minutes, and no pitch in it.

Tell us what the practice does and where the hours go. You will leave knowing whether AI would pay for itself here, and which piece of work to point it at first.
